Learn to look at interrelationships from different perspectives.

Set a strong example for the health of society: with our innovative Master's programme in Public Health Nutrition (PHN). In a unique cooperation between the departments of Nutritional, Food and Consumer Sciences and Health Sciences, nutrition and health sciences merge into a pioneering programme offered.
Our aim is to develop and implement evidence-based strategies to combat nutrition-related health problems at population level.
Here you will learn: to analyse the need for action in populations and population groups - for example using epidemiological methods - the development of universal, selective and indicated prevention strategies and their implementation as well as the systematic evaluation of the effectiveness of interventions.
Our Master PHN is aimed at anyone interested in the multidisciplinary issues of nutritional science from a health and population-related perspective. Perfect for self-motivated students who value personal supervision in small learning groups and are willing to take responsibility for their own learning and research.
The standard duration of studies for the campus-based programme is four semesters full-time. Courses mainly take place from Monday to Wednesday, leaving Thursday and Friday for the required self-employed work.
In the second and third semesters, a research project takes place in which students work in small groups on current research questions and develop solutions to challenges relevant to public health nutrition.
In the second and third semesters, students work on a research project totalling 15 ECTS credits of student working time in order to train, among other things, methodological skills and social competences such as the ability to work in a team. This involves researching practical issues and developing solutions to nutrition and health-related problems.
Evidence of a Bachelor's degree or diploma examination in a study programme with a focus on nutritional science with an average grade of 2.5 or better. Graduates of study programmes with a focus on health, sports or food science with an average grade of at least 2.5 or better can be admitted to university studies on condition that they have provided evidence of sufficient nutritional science competence by the end of the first academic year by completing suitable modules.
