Cooperative study programme with the University of Kassel

The Master's programme in Social Law and Social Economy provides students with an interdisciplinary, coordinated offer of courses to teach legal, economic and socio-educational problem-solving and leadership skills. Based on the respective educational background of the students, law and business should become integrated elements of their professional profile and self-image. The law, business and social sciences competences are taught in close interdisciplinary exchange.

The study programme thrives on diverse practice-related contacts. Numerous lecturers are judges at the Kassel-based Federal Social Court (BSG). There are also lecturers from various fields of social services.

The study programme is aimed at graduates of the Bachelor's degree in Social Law at Fulda University of Applied Sciences and graduates of other disciplines such as economic law, social education or social work. Law graduates can also apply for the study programme after completing the 1st state examination.

University studies can be organised flexibly, as the individual modules do not build on each other. Students choose the sequence of courses independently. If necessary, they are supported by the Programme Coordination Office.

The study programme is offered at the University of Kassel in cooperation with the Fulda University of Applied Sciences. Enrolment takes place at the University of Kassel. It builds on the Bachelor's degree programme in Social Law at Fulda University of Applied Sciences and is unique in this form in Germany.

 

  • Bachelor's degree in social law, social work, economic law or an equivalent degree with a grade of at least "good" (2.5)
  • Alternatively, first or second state examination in law with a grade of at least "satisfactory"

International applicants with a foreign university entrance qualification must provide evidence of German skills at level C1 of the CEFR. At the time of application, German skills at level B2 of the CEFR are sufficient. The C1 evidence must be submitted by the end of the first semester at the latest.

Winter semester

with German educational certificates: 2 May to 15 July

with foreign educational certificates: 1 March to 15 July

Summer semester

with German educational certificates: 1 December to 15 January

with foreign educational certificates: 1 October to 15 January

The positive experiences with the professional appointments of graduates of the Bachelor's programme in Social Law at Fulda University of Applied Sciences and the first graduates of the Master's programme show that the professional opportunities are very good. It is foreseeable that social service providers will continue to professionalise the job profile of social workers and social education workers.
