From leisure fun to party culture Fulda has a lot to offer

Fulda has a lot to offer in addition to the basis for good university studies. There are many leisure activities: Summer toboggan run, ski lifts and paragliding on the Wasserkuppe as well as numerous hiking areas around Fulda. The city centre of Fulda can be reached quickly from campus by bus or bicycle. The old town centre of Fulda is known for its high density of pubs. To party, head to the Bermuda Triangle, where pubs, bars and restaurants are lined up. In summer, there are numerous festivals such as the wine festival, the beer festival, the town festival and the gourmet festival. Winter is no exception: the Christmas market with its medieval market and winter forest is something special.

Fulda on the Fulda

The town of Fulda itself is located on the river of the same name, which is ideal for canoe tours or canoe polo. On foot, on the water or in the air: there are numerous ways to spend your leisure time in and around Fulda. On the Wasserkuppe alone there is a summer toboggan run, ski lifts and the possibility of paragliding. There are also wonderful hiking areas all around Fulda.

Fulda, with its famous baroque quarter, is a musical city; the world premières of Medicus, Boniface and The Popess took place here. Theatres, several museums and cinemas also offer "cultural fodder" and numerous concerts, readings and exhibitions bear witness to Fulda's very lively cabaret scene. If you are looking for even more variety, you can quickly reach the Rhine-Main region or Würzburg, but living in Fulda is much cheaper.

Unique location

Fulda is located in the centre of Germany in the east of Hesse, not far from Thuringia and Bavaria. The city lies between two low mountain ranges: to the west rises what was once the largest volcano in Central Europe, the Vogelsberg. However, it has not been active for around 15 million years. To the east lies the Rhön, which has been a UNESCO biosphere reserve for several years. There, on the Wasserkuppe, the highest mountain in Hesse, gliding was practically invented by students from Darmstadt in 1911.

Historical and cultural diversity

Fulda is rich in history and culture. The baroque old town with its magnificent cathedral, city palace and numerous churches offers a unique historical ambience. The annual Fulda City Festival and the wide range of cultural courses, including theatre performances and concerts, ensure a lively cultural life.

High quality of life and proximity to nature

Fulda offers a high quality of life with a good balance between urban living and closeness to nature. The Rhön and Vogelsberg mountains are in the immediate vicinity and offer numerous leisure and recreational opportunities, such as hiking, cycling and winter sports. The town is also clean and safe, with a wide range of educational institutions and health services on offer.

Central University Administration and good transport connections

Fulda is centrally located in Germany and has excellent transport connections. The city is an important ICE junction, which enables fast connections to all major German cities. The A7 motorway is also close by, which makes travelling by car easier. This central location makes Fulda particularly attractive for commuters and business travellers.
