Welcome to the IT Support information page for new students at Fulda University of Applied Sciences. This page provides an overview of the IT services available to you during your university studies. These include access to the WLAN, your email account or the e-learning platform.

01 User identification

The FD number is your user identification, which is required to log into your student account and to use the university's IT services. You will have received this a few days after enrolment at the email address you provided on your application.

03 Set up WLAN

You can use your fd number and the corresponding password to access the WLAN at Fulda University of Applied Sciences and at all other facilities participating in the eduroam network.

02 Email

Visit https://webmail.hs-fulda.de/ and log in with your fd number and your personal password. Your email address is composed as follows: vorname.nachname@fachbereich.hs-fulda.de

04 Moodle e-learning platform

On the e-learning platform moodle you will find documents for your modules, office hours and daily noticeboards. You can log in with your fd number and password.

Services

Usable with your fd number

  • register on the PCs of the departments and the IT Support Centre
  • log into the university organisation system horstl
  • Connect to the university network via the VPN client
  • Use the translation tool DeepL
  • Use the Ki chat
  • and much more

Further services

Big Blue Button

BigBlueButton ist ein DSGVO-konformes Web-Konferenzsystem. Sie können BigBlueButton über Moodle nutzen oder die Weboberfläche Webconf verwenden.

Webex

Webex is another video conferencing system. You can log in via the Webex client or via the browser with your university e-mail address.

For video conferences with sensitive content, use BigBlueButton.

Network drives

The IT Support provides all students with network drives. The advantage is that you can access your data from anywhere. A backup of the network drives is also created regularly.

Filr

Microfocus Filr allows you to access your network drives via a web interface.

Next.hessenbox

Next.Hessenbox is a flexible cloud storage solution that allows you to synchronise and share files across different devices. You can award individual access rights, which facilitates exchange and collaboration at the end of projects.

Office 365

To be able to use Microsoft Office 365, you must register with Microsoft using your university email address. You can use the products on up to 5 devices.

Sophos

The IT Support uses Sophos Anti Virus as part of the Hessian Sophos state contract. As part of this licence, Sophos Home Commercial Edition is available to all students to increase the protection of the university environment.

MAXDA

MAXQDA is a software for qualitative data and text analysis that is used in academic research projects and university studies. As a rule, interviews, text and library items such as images are analysed.

SPSS

The IT Support offers a campus licence of the SPSS software for use. SPSS is a tool for analysing and designing surveys, conducting them and carrying out statistical evaluations.
