Fulda University of Applied Sciences twice successful in the Female Professors Programme III (2018)

In 2018, Fulda University of Applied Sciences was the only university of applied sciences nationwide to be awarded the title "Equal Opportunities: Excellent".
Fulda University of Applied Sciences is the only university of applied sciences (HAW) nationwide to receive this distinction out of a total of ten universities and HAWs in Hesse. It was thus able to apply for a fourth start-up funding programme for the first appointment of a woman.

On 13 March 2025, Fulda University of Applied Sciences was presented with the "Equal Opportunities Strong University" plaque by the State Secretary of the Hessian Ministry of Science, Research, Art and Culture, Christoph Degen, and Carolin Schumacher from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. "You were successful with your equal opportunities concept in the Female Professors Programme 2030 because you have developed a very diverse yet structured portfolio of measures and anchored them in a sustainable way. Over the years, you have made excellent use of your development opportunities within the framework of the Women Professors Programme. And overall, you have presented a very good and well-founded equal opportunities concept," summarised Carolin Schumacher in her speech. Together with the management of Fulda University of Applied Sciences, committee members, instructors, academic participation and students celebrated the special recognition in the area of gender equality. The invited guests also included the employees of Fulda University of Applied Sciences, who were actively involved in the development and implementation of the equal opportunities concept for parity, and the female professors and researchers whose positions were funded from previous funding phases of the female professorship programme. With the award of the coveted distinction, Fulda University of Applied Sciences has received additional funding on top of the three start-up grants for professorships: a further position for a young female researcher on her way to becoming a tenured professorship.
