The university elections for the Senate, the Student Parliament (StuPa), the Departmental Councils (FBR), the Student Association Councils (FSR) and the Student Assistant Council (HKR) take place at the end of each winter semester as electronic elections, i.e. online via the Polyas election platform.
All students at the university are entitled to vote for the senate and the student parliament; the students of a department vote the student representatives on the Departmental Council and the student association council. All students who are employed as student assistants can vote the student assistant council.
The Senate of Fulda University of Applied Sciences passes resolutions from all groups (professors, academic and administrative/technical employees and students). It advises on matters relating to research, Learning and Teaching and university studies that affect the entire university and are of fundamental importance. The Senate oversees the management of the Presidential Board.
The Departmental Council (FBR) consists of members from all groups (professors, academic and administrative/technical employees and students). It advises on matters of fundamental importance to a department and is in charge of issuing examination regulations and deciding on professorial appointment proposals for new professors.
The Student Parliament (StuPa) consists of 19 students from the 8 departments. It is the highest decision-making body in student self-management and the elected representative of all students. It chooses and monitors the General Student Committee. The student parliament adopts the statutes of the student body and other regulations, as well as the budget. In addition, the student parliament is also the venue for political debates on university policy topics and matters concerning the student body.
The Student Association Council (FSR) is made up of students from a department; it represents the subject-related concerns and university policy interests of the students in the department.
The Student Assistant Council (HKR) passes three students who are employed as student assistants at Fulda University of Applied Sciences. It represents the special interests of student assistants. This concerns everything to do with the day-to-day work of student assistants.
