Teaching evaluations as student feedback on a specific course or a complete study programme serve as a reflection and facilitate suitable further developments. We advise and support teaching staff comprehensively, if required, from the choice of methods and the implementation to the analysis and documentation of results.
Centrally coordinated by the DLS division, all teaching staff at Fulda University of Applied Sciences can carry out course evaluations using a standardised online questionnaire via the evasys evaluation software. It is recommended to carry out the evaluation "online in presence", i.e. students should - if possible - complete the online questionnaire during a course session using a (mobile) internet-enabled device. The courses to be evaluated can be completed via the evaluation portal at any time during the semester. All information on the expires of course evaluations with evasys can be found here.
The survey instruments are based on the concept of a modular questionnaire system: a maximum of three of six possible additional modules can be optionally added to the fixed core questionnaire:
An overview of the individual questions in the course evaluation questionnaire can be found here. It is also possible to carry out module evaluations consisting of several courses using the questionnaire toolkit.
In addition to or as an alternative to questionnaire-based course evaluations with evasys, the use of dialogue-based feedback methods is recommended. Teachers can thus obtain re-enrolment on focussed aspects of their course as often and individually as they wish as part of a feedback discussion.
You can find methodological suggestions and practical tips in our handout Dialogical evaluation formats. We have compiled some dialogue-promoting feedback methods in our feedback method kit.
At regular intervals, we manage internal university continuing education programmes on the topic of course evaluation. Have a look at our diary to find out when the next workshop will take place.
If required, the DLS division develops standardised, needs-based instruments for conducting study programme evaluations as online surveys via the evasys evaluation software in consultation with the head of the study programme and offers support in the implementation and analysis.
In addition or as an alternative to questionnaire-based programme evaluation with evasys, the use of explorative, dialogue-based evaluation methods is recommended. In this way, feedback on focussed aspects of the study programme can be obtained systematically and according to need within the framework of a moderated dialogue. You can find methodological suggestions and practical tips in our guideline Dialogical Formats of Evaluation. We have compiled some conversational feedback methods in our Feedback Method Box.
You can find out what to consider when carrying out teaching evaluations in order to achieve the greatest possible student participation in our guideline Increasing the Response Rate to Teaching Evaluations.
