Robert Schmolz and Cedric Kollenberg took part in the adh Open 2024 rapid chess tournament in Marburg for Fulda University of Applied Sciences on 6 September 2024.

On 6 September 2024, Fulda University of Applied Sciences sent Robert Schmolz and Cedric Kollenberg to Marburg University for the adh Open 2024 rapid chess tournament. Both are heads of a chess course at Fulda University of Applied Sciences.

A total of 28 participants from all over Germany competed against each other in 6 rounds in the Swiss system. An exciting tournament unfolded. Robert scored a solid 2/6 points, always having to compete against experienced players. He finished the tournament in 24th place. Cedric delivered a very decent performance and was only beaten by the tournament winner Grandmaster Hagen Poetsch, who won all his games. In the final round, Cedric agreed a draw with his opponent Lukas Forster. Both took a shared 2nd place with 4.5/6 points and an identical second rating.
