DHM Ultimate Frisbee 2025 :
- in Fulda!

On 14 and 15 June 2025, the German University Championships (DHM) in Ultimate Frisbee took place at the Johannisau Sports Park.

On 14 and 15 June 2025, the German University Championships (DHM) in Ultimate Frisbee took place at the Johannisau Sports Park. Together with the German University Sports Federation (adh) and the Frisbee division of DAFKS KONTAKT ("Fuldimates"), Fulda University of Applied Sciences organised one of the largest national Frisbee tournaments. As the organiser, Fulda University of Applied Sciences was able to appoint a team for the Ultimate DHM for the second time since 2019.

With 20 registered teams and over 300 players, quite a few discs were thrown and caught this weekend. Unfortunately, due to short-term injuries or illness, only 16 teams were able to appoint a competitive team with enough men and women for the mixed mode. Despite the circumstances, the team from WG Bonn travelled to the event, showed great team spirit and played out of competition.
The grounds at Sportpark Johannisau left nothing to be desired for the players. On two immaculate grass pitches and in the stadium itself, the group matches were played from Saturday morning until the afternoon in four so-called "pools", in which the teams competed for a good starting position for the knockout phase.

Catering for the teams and interested guests was provided by the Fulda University Sports team together with the Fuldimates. The "Kichererbsen" catering team, the Minhkeey food truck and the Fuldaer Hof offered culinary highlights and the Fuldimates organised drinks and a cake buffet to ensure that everyone in attendance was well catered for.

The round of 16 was then played in the early evening after a short break. As expected, the matches became increasingly close and exciting during the knockout matches on Sunday. The matches for places 5, 7 and 9 were all decided in the so-called "Universe" - this means that the score is tied at the expire of the time and the next point decides between victory and defeat. It doesn't get more exciting than this!

In high-class Ultimate games, the University of Tübingen and WG München fought their way to the final. This was played out in the stadium in front of a fantastic crowd. In the end, WG München prevailed 10:7 against the defending champions from the University of Tübingen.

The award ceremony was organised by the head of Ultimate Frisbee, Ralf Simon. Each team was honoured with a certificate and a team photo as a souvenir. The top three teams received additional adh winners' badges as well as gold, silver and bronze Frisbees. It is a tradition in Ultimate Frisbee that a prize for fair play and team spirit (the so-called "spirit") is also awarded - because spirit is the foundation of the entire game of Ultimate. This year, for once, there was a shared spirit victory, namely the WG Freiburg together with the WG Erlangen-Nuremberg.

To summarise, the weekend was a complete success and a celebration for all fans of Ultimate Frisbee - and also by far the biggest Frisbee event that Fulda has seen to date.
