Improv theatre knows no weather

Open rehearsal of the University Sports improv theatre attracts numerous visitors - even in the snow chaos!

On 26 January, the now traditional semester performance by the student improvisation theatre group from Fulda University of Applied Sciences took place. There was an extreme snowfall that Monday, so no buses were managing and the whole of Fulda was on the verge of hibernation. To be honest, I hadn't expected many people to find their way to the student café "Chaos" that evening. So I was all the more surprised when the room filled up anyway - in the end, the café was packed.

As the moderator, I was able to accompany the end-of-semester performance by the Fulda University of Applied Sciences improvisation group. On stage were students who had learned improvisational theatre during the course and were now showing what can happen spontaneously on stage without a script or any props. The audience was involved from the very beginning and provided the impulses from which the scenes developed.

The improvised invention of the Pömpel, the surprisingly coherent statement on how Matratzen Concord actually earns money, a completely escalating sauna championship and an improvised musical at the end of the evening are particularly memorable. Despite the snow chaos outside, the evening inside showed just how lively, absurd and unifying improv theatre can be.

Would you also like to experience improv theatre in a course? On 09.02. from 12 noon you can register here for the improv theatre course for the lecture-free period of the winter semester 2025 / 2026!
