Open Chess Tournament...

On Friday, 21 June 2024, the second edition of the Open Chess Tournament of the Fulda University of Applied Sciences Sports Centre took place. 20 participants fought for the title in 7 rounds. The top match took place in the 2nd round, in which Lennart Greb was able to hold his own against Thomas Unger. He then left no doubt and won all 7 games in total. Thomas Unger only handed in one draw and took a second place voucher with 5.5 points. Third place was decided by the final score. Here, Robert Schmolz narrowly beat Daniel Wünsche (5 points each). In addition to international students, the tournament was also characterised by the interest of different age groups. The participants are already looking forward to hosting the tournament again in the 2024/2025 winter semester. Anyone interested in chess is also welcome to reserve the Sports Centre's chess courses for the coming semester.
