University Sports Meets Hessentag 2026

30 Jun 2026

Days packed with activity: Inclusion Day, Sports Day and other highlights for everyone.

On selected days during the ten-day Hessentag festival, Fulda University of Applied Sciences’ University Sports programme was represented with hands-on activities. Whether at Inclusion Day, Sports Day or during performances on the Lotto stage: the focus was on accessible offers, trying things out together and genuine interactions – all in a relaxed, open atmosphere and with a real enjoyment of exercise.

15 June 2026: Inclusion Day

Under the motto “One at heart – a heart for all”, Inclusion Day at Hessentag was all about connection, diversity and participation. Many members of the city’s community, including numerous voluntary workers, organised an information day that invited people to experience inclusion first-hand, discover new perspectives and engage in conversation with one another.

Around the Himmelsbühne stage in the Fulda floodplains, there was a varied programme featuring music, dance, presentations and interactive contributions. This was complemented by a diverse range of hands-on activities for all ages: from wheelchair obstacle courses and simulation techniques to tactile picture books, guided tours for the blind, accessible exercise sessions and assisted communication. ‘Invisible disabilities’ were also creatively addressed and brought to life.

‘Bewegter Campus @Hessentag’ – our inclusive hands-on programme

We were on site at the Inclusion Day as “Bewegter Campus @Hessentag” with our cargo bike. Between around 12 noon and 3 pm, three course instructors invited visitors to join in.

We had games and equipment that are easy to use and quickly give participants a sense of achievement – including cornhole, ladder golf and mini table tennis. It was particularly lovely to see how many different people and age groups joined in spontaneously: trying things out, laughing, cheering each other on – that’s exactly what University Sports is all about.

Fulda Cup: Inclusive football together

The Fulda Cup also took place again to coincide with Hessentag – the inclusive football tournament for Fulda schools and people with disabilities. The course is organised by the association “Jeder ist anders – Inklusionssport Fulda e.V.”, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

A special demonstration of active participation was the exhibition match before the final: our “Fulda University of Applied Sciences” team, made up of employees, course instructors and students, took on the “Antonius: gemeinsam Mensch” team. A match that demonstrated one thing above all else: football works best when everyone is included.

16 June 2026: Sports Day

On Tuesday 16 June 2026, the action continued with Sports Day: from 10 am to 7 pm, we set visitors small motor skills challenges through various hands-on activities – including a reaction challenge and a balance challenge.

Visitors also had the chance to take home a souvenir sports photo from our “on-site sports hall”.

17 & 21 June: Street Style Dance Group on the Lotto Stage

The University Sports Street Style Dancers provided a real highlight: they thrilled the audience with two performances on the Lotto Stage. With a varied mix of choreographed routines, interactive activities and plenty of good humour, they created a fantastic atmosphere.
