Tasks and members

The Senate advises on matters of research, teaching and study that affect the entire university or are of fundamental importance. It supervises the management of the Presidential Board.

The members of the Presidium, the Women's Representative, the Chairperson of the Staff Council, the Chairperson of the General Students' Committee (AStA) and the representative of severely disabled persons belong to the Senate in an advisory capacity.

For the election, appointment and deselection of the President, as well as for the election of the Vice-President, the Senate consists of 35 members with voting rights: the elected Senate members and their deputies as well as an additional seat for the professors' group.

Senate Commissions

Overview and tasks

The following Senate Commissions currently exist at Fulda University of Applied Sciences:

According to the statutes of the Ethics Committee of Fulda University of Applied Sciences, the members of this committee and at least two deputy members are chosen by the Senate for a period of two years on the recommendation of the President. Repeat appointments are admitted.

The evaluation committee of Fulda University of Applied Sciences has passed since 1998 and has met regularly on the committee days ever since. It is made up of representatives from all departments. The committee is chaired by the Vice-President for Learning and Teaching and serves the exchange of evaluation issues between the departments as well as joint further development.

The task of the Commission for Learning and Teaching is to prepare Senate resolutions on all fundamental issues relating to university studies and teaching. Furthermore, the Senate has transferred its authority to approve the examination regulations adopted by the Departmental Councils and their amendments to the committee on condition that the resolutions are passed unanimously (Resolution 31/2010 of 8 December 2010).
