Bike semester

Cycling for climate and health

The "FahrRad-Semester" campaign has been focussing on cycling at the university every summer semester since 2022, as it is fun, supports health and protects the climate. University Sports and the Fulda University of Applied Sciences Sustainability Office therefore organise a varied program with action stands, bike repairs and other exciting bike-related offers. Attendance at STADTRADELN is also part of the program every year.

Useful tips for cycling in Fulda

All bicycle racks and substructures are marked on this campus map.

You will find covered bicycle parking facilities between buildings 41-40

and behind building 46.

Showers and changing rooms are available in the basement of building 54.

The bicycle repair station on campus is located behind Building 10.

Tyres can be inflated here, but you can also carry out minor repairs yourself. The station is equipped with:

  • Allen key set
  • Slotted and Phillips screwdriver
  • Fork wrench
  • Tyre lever for fitting tyres
  • Air pump and car or Dunlop valves
  • Torx spanner set and pliers Open-end spanner in 4 widths

If you don't yet know exactly what you need for what, don't worry: you can scan a QR code using your mobile phone and get repair and application tips on the ibombo .de website.

Further bike repair stations can be found at the railway station (platform 1) and at the Teo markets (Linden- and Petersberger Straße, Ochsenwiese).

Since May 2025, Fulda has had the FuldaBike - a bike rental system with several stations in Fulda where e-bikes and e-cargo bikes can be borrowed on loan via an app.

There is also such a station on the university campus: directly on Leipziger Straße, at the campus entrance between buildings 20 and 30.

You can find all the information about the FuldaBike, the costs and the bike hire stations here.

ERNEUER:BAR

At the ERNEUER:BAR, you will find voluntary repair assistants who know all about bicycles.

While the repair assistants repair the bike free of charge, you will be shown the individual components of a bike and how you can carry out minor repairs on the bike yourself in the future. You can also discuss which spare parts you need on site. You then bring these with you.

In the spirit of sustainability: The ERNEUER:BAR also offers repair help for other items!

The opening times of the ERNEUER:BAR can be found on the homepage.

AWO

The AWO bicycle workshop is also a good place to get your bike repaired at a favourable price. The young people from Lohn und Brot manage all the usual repairs under supervision. Common, used spare parts are available or can be procured promptly.

In the spirit of sustainability, you will also find a selection of affordable second-hand bikes here. There is also an annual AWO bicycle bazaar on campus where used bikes can be purchased (it was held again in spring 2024 for the first time after the coronavirus pandemic).

The opening times of the AWO can be found on the homepage.

You can plan cycle tours with the Hessen cycle route planner.

You can report anomalies, requests for improvement and suggestions directly to the city of Fulda via the cycle traffic reporting platform.

Find other cycling enthusiasts and more!

Are you a cyclist and looking for company for joint tours? You can find like-minded people on the University Sports sports partner exchange and experience something together with them. Every excursion becomes a special experience and offers the opportunity to make new friends.
