What I particularly like about my training is that I have a super exciting and varied working environment. This is mainly due to the collaboration with the students and the international orientation of Fulda University of Applied Sciences. This allows you to get in touch with international students and advise them. The possibility of a subsidised language course in Ireland and good chances of being taken on are definitely another plus point. By attending the vocational training college and the administrative seminar as well as working at the authority, theory and practice are transferred and the training is therefore varied.
Leah, training as an administrative assistant in her 1st year of training
We, Anna and Alina, have just had a great adventure in Ireland thanks to the Erasmus scholarship programme. Instead of the usual five days of educational leave, we opted for a language course in Ireland from 15 to 19 April 2024. And this was even supported by the Fulda University of Applied Sciences with more than €1,000.
We started on 13 April with our flight from Frankfurt to Dublin. After a short bus journey to Galway, we moved into our flats. The next day we started straight away with a bus tour full of Irish highlights: from Dunguaire Castle to the Poulnabrone dolmens and the fascinating Cliffs of Moher (known from Harry Potter). From Monday to Friday, we went to language school every day from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm. In the mornings, we focussed on vocabulary and grammar with application tasks. In the afternoons, we practised speaking English with our classmates. From an exciting city tour through Galway to a cool pub evening in "An Púcan", there were plenty of opportunities to use what we had learnt directly and meet lots of new people.
Highlight of the week? Without a doubt: the National University of Galway. The most important thing we are taking home with us: Don't panic about speaking English! Ireland, you were fantastic - see you next time.
