Dr. Marco Antonio Teixeira is a Fellow at the DFG Research Cluster Shaping Future Societies (SaFe) at Fulda University of Applied Sciences (January–March 2026). He holds a PhD in Sociology from the Institute of Social and Political Studies at the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher at Heidelberg University and Freie Universität Berlin, and a Fellow at the Maria Sibylla Merian Centre Conviviality–Inequality in Latin America (Mecila).

His current research examines activist perspectives on just transitions in the context of the climate crisis. In particular, he focuses on the People’s Summit, an autonomous space organized alongside COP30 that brings together social and popular movements, coalitions, collectives, networks, and civil society organizations from Latin America and beyond. These actors converge to articulate what they describe as “real solutions” to climate challenges. The study investigates how differences in political subjectivities, intersectional positions, scales of action, power relations, and cultural and political imaginaries shape both convergences and tensions surrounding the notion of just transition.

During his fellowship at SaFe, Marco's research aims to bridge debates on just transitions and future-making. His activities include presenting his research within the 2025–2026 lecture series of the Research Impulse Shaping Future Societies; developing a collaborative paper with SaFe members; and contributing to the preparation of a proposal for a new Scientific Network.
