Archives of the Research Society Flight and Migration
The archives of the Research Society for Flight and Migration (FFM) is one of the most comprehensive archives on the topic of flight and migration in Germany. Originating as a working archive in Berlin, the existing documents (published and non-published materials) of the Research Society for Flight and Migration served as the basis for its own publications.
In addition to articles from newspapers and journals, the archives primarily comprise so-called grey literature, which cannot be found in established libraries and institutes, as well as key and background texts on international migration and refugee policy.
The FFM stocks consist of approx. 20 linear metres of files and approx. 8 linear metres of books and brochures. The already catalogued stocks can be viewed at FILIP.
Since the founding of the Research Society for Flight and Migration in 1994, the specialisation has been the situation of refugees and migrants on the periphery of the EU as well as the isolation and camp policies at the EU's external borders. The interests and laws of refugees and migrants and the associated critical examination of state migration and refugee policies are the point of reference for the Research Society for Flight and Migration. The reasons for flight and migration are fundamentally respected.
In 2011, the Research Society for Flight and Migration handed the archives over to the social and cultural sciences department at Fulda University of Applied Sciences. It was incorporated into the HLB in August 2013. It is under the academic direction of political scientist Prof Dr Gudrun Hentges. The FFM archive complements the Peter Kühne Archive, which was opened at Fulda University of Applied Sciences in the summer semester of 2008.
