Publish your dissertations

Publish dissertations

If you obtain your doctorate in a doctoral research centre at Fulda University of Applied Sciences or an inter-university doctoral research centre with the participation of Fulda University of Applied Sciences, we offer you the opportunity to publish your dissertation with us.

Legal basis

How exactly the publication of the dissertation expires is defined in the doctoral degree regulations of the doctoral centres, usually in § 20 of the respective doctoral degree regulations.

Your publication options

The HLB offers you various options for publishing your dissertation online in Open Access.

With the Fulda document server FulDok, we offer you the opportunity to publish your dissertation in open access free of charge. Your dissertation can be found globally via the document server, is freely accessible, reusable and archived for the long term.

If you decide to publish in FulDok, the publication process expires as follows:

  1. First, the chair of the doctoral committee confirms to the doctoral candidate that the submitted version of the dissertation may be published (permission to print).
  2. Then the electronic version of the dissertation is uploaded to FulDok and activated after the library has confirmed the submission of the printed deposit copies. Please contact Mrs Biermann (manja.biermann(at)hlb.hs-fulda.de) for the submission of the printed deposit copies of the dissertation. She will send you a confirmation from the library that the thesis has been submitted correctly. The confirmation will be noted on a routing slip, which you can obtain from the coordinator of your doctoral research centre.
  3. Finally, you submit the completed routing slip to the chair of the doctoral committee, who will arrange for the doctoral degree to be awarded and the doctoral certificate to be issued or delivered.

The HLB uses its publication fund to support excellent dissertations that are published as Gold Open Access monographs by a publisher. As for all Open Access books, the funding amounts to a maximum of 5,000 euros gross.
The final decision on funding in individual cases always lies with the HLB.
You are welcome to take advantage of our advisory services and funding options for a possible open access publication of your dissertation and contact us at: openaccess(at)hlb.hs-fulda.de.
