Archive of the Fulda University of Applied Sciences

In January 2025, the University, State and Public Library Fulda took on the task of successively establishing a central archive for all areas of the university.

Self-image & goal

As part of the University, State and Public Library Fulda, the university archive stores the written material of the departments, committees and facilities at the Fulda University of Applied Sciences that is no longer required for day-to-day administration. The University Archive is a Central University Administration centre where the work of the university is preserved and documented for posterity. It therefore shares responsibility for the historical and academic heritage of Fulda University of Applied Sciences.

Tasks

On the basis of the Hessian Archive Act, the Fulda University of Applied Sciences Archive secures documents of lasting legal or cultural value from all departments of the university. All documents taken over are permanently stored, catalogued and made accessible.

The Fulda University of Applied Sciences Archive advises the departments, committees and facilities of Fulda University of Applied Sciences on issues relating to analogue and digital records management.

The Fulda University of Applied Sciences Archive offers a central point of contact for providing information on records and supporting research projects on the history of the university.

Information

The Fulda University Archive is still under construction. A service concept is currently being developed which will be orientated towards the needs of the university. For this reason, some services are currently only available to a limited extent. Further information on the current status of work will be provided here in the future.

For the years 1962 to 1987, some of the records of the university and its predecessor institutions are held as a deposit (HStAM, 440) in the Hessian State Archives in Marburg. These stocks are already searchable via the archive information system (Arcinsys).
