Specialist literature

Specialist literature conveys special knowledge, sometimes the term is also used synonymously for scientific literature, and the boundaries to non-fiction literature are also fluid. With the exception of the city library's share at Heinrich-von-Bibra-Platz in the children's and young people's area, the novels and audio books, the magazines of the reading café as well as a part of the directly accessible non-fiction under the call number 41/ ..., the HLSB mainly acquires scientific literature for studies, teaching and research as well as school and vocational training and further education at both locations.

While most of the literature at the Campus is freely accessible, most of the scientific literature at Heinrich-von-Bibra-Platz is stored in closed stacks, i.e. not freely accessible. Therefore, a catalogue search is always necessary in order to be able to select from the total stock of (printed) academic literature.
