Library card for children and young people
The library card for children (up to 12 years of age) and young people (13 to 17 years) is applied for via the online form. For the registration of minors, the written consent of a parent or guardian* as well as the presentation of the identity card of a parent or guardian or the minor's own identity cardare always required.
Children up to 12 years of age can obtain their library card from the Children and Young Adults Department at Heinrich-von-Bibra-Platz location. Young adults aged 13 and over can obtain their library card on the ground floor at Heinrich-von-Bibra-Platz location.

The validity of the card is usually 3 years. It is automatically extended by the same period if there have been any borrowing transactions during this time.
On turning 13, the children's library card is replaced by a library card for teenagers/adults. This can be exchanged free of charge in the children's and young people's department on presentation of the children's library card.
If your library card is lost or stolen, please have your library account blocked immediately. During our service hours, please contact the staff at the service counters; outside service hours, please contact us by e-mail.
You can obtain a replacement library card for a fee upon presentation of the relevant documents (identity card/passport with registration certificate/residence title).
