In the basement at the Heinrich-von-Bibra-Platz location, children and young people can find books, DVDs and other media to borrow. Library items for children are labelled with orange stickers, those for young people with blue stickers.
The library card for children (7-12 years) and young people (13 to 17 years) is applied for via the online form. For the registration of minors, a written statement of consent from a parent or legal guardian* and the documents listed below are always required.
Children between the ages of 7 and 12 can obtain their library card from the Children and Young Adults Department at Heinrich-von-Bibra-Platz. Young people aged 13 and over can obtain their library card at the service desk on the ground floor at Heinrich-von-Bibra-Platz.
Library items from the Children and Young Adults Department can be kept for four weeks. These should be returned undamaged and on time to avoid fees.
The loan period can be renewed up to three times, either in person or online, using the user number and password.
Renewals are only possible if the item has not been reserved.

There are no fees for the library card or the loan.
If library items are returned late, overdue fines of €3 per item per week will be charged. It is recommended that library items are returned or the loan period renewed in good time. If a medium is lost or damaged, it must be replaced.
The library card can be used to reserve a desired book or other library items via the internet. Once the item has been returned, a notification is sent by email and a collection period of seven days is available.
A large selection of children's and young adult literature is available at the Heinrich-von-Bibra-Platz location. The books, DVDs, console games and robots are sorted by age group and topic. The collection offers a variety of reading and gaming experiences. Information on availability and use can be viewed online. A digital offer is also available.

The "School and learning" section (shelf mark: 45 / ..., location: Schule und Lernen) contains literature that supports school education.
Library items for all types of school can be found here, from primary school to general and vocational secondary school. The offer comprises learning aids from all school subjects, sample exams, individual and collective interpretation aids as well as collections of formulae. There are also materials to guide you in writing papers and written examinations.
The collection also contains verb tables, dictionaries and grammars in various languages such as German, English, French, Latin and Spanish as well as lexicons.
