This historical drama sheds light on the tireless struggle of lawyer Elisabeth Selbert, who fought against enormous resistance to enshrine equal rights in the Basic Law in 1948.
In the midst of a post-war society characterised by conservative role models, the SPD MP fought tenaciously for the decisive sentence: "Men and women have equal rights." The film paints an exciting portrait of one of the four "Mothers of the Basic Law" and makes it clear that democratic laws often had to be fought for with great effort against the spirit of the times.
This and other films are available free of charge to all HLSB users via the filmfriend platform.

The event will also look at the possibilities and limits of local politics. All eligible voters are invited.
