FulDok - Fulda document server of the HLB

FulDok is the document server of the HLB.

You are a member of the Fulda University of Applied Sciences and would like to publish your electronic publication?
With FulDok, the HLB provides you with a service that guarantees the publication, administration, archiving and use of your electronic documents.
You are expressly encouraged to take your publications, whether as first or second publications, on FulDok.

1. objectives and content criteria for the document server

With the FulDok document server, the HLB offers all members of the Fulda University of Applied Sciences the organisational and technical framework for the publication of academic documents on the internet. As part of this HLB service, documents are made available on the internet for research, teaching and general education in compliance with quality standards.
The electronic documents are given permanent and unique addresses and can therefore be identified and reliably cited at any time. All documents referenced via FulDok are additionally indexed via national and international library catalogues, search engines and other reference tools. Furthermore, the availability of electronic documents is guaranteed for at least the next 10 years. The HLB is in negotiations with other facilities for long-term archiving.
Recommendations and standardisations from national and international initiatives such as the German Initiative for Network Information (DINI) or the Open Archives Initiative (OAI) are incorporated into the operation and further development of FulDok.

2. the collection order of HLB

The HLB strives to store, cataloguing and archive all electronic academic documents published by members of the Fulda University of Applied Sciences, provided that they meet the quality standards of the departments and the HLB as well as formal requirements. This applies both to purely electronic publications and to electronic versions of printed documents.
The authors' copyrights remain protected. Publication in FulDok does not preclude further publication of the documents in academic journals or monographs or on other servers.
In accordance with the recommendations of the Science Council, all researchers at Fulda University of Applied Sciences are requested to secure a corresponding additional right of use when concluding publishing contracts and to publish the documents they have written on FulDok - possibly after a blocking period.
External genuinely electronic or digitised documents are also offered as part of the Rhön Academic Collection.

3. the electronic document

For the purposes of these guidelines, the term "electronic document" refers to a document that is based on text and graphics, is stored in digital form on a data carrier and is distributed via computer networks. In future, the aim is to extend the term to include multimedia documents containing audio and video sequences.
An electronic document to be published via FulDok fulfils the following conditions:

  • It is intended for permanent distribution to the public
  • It is not a dynamic document. If changes are necessary, the amended electronic document is saved as a new version
  • It complies with the technical parameters specified by the HLB

The documents are described in terms of form and content by the authors themselves or an authorised person using a form and then appointed to the document server.
The document is released after receipt of the written statement of consent. The published documents cannot be changed or deleted.

We would like to thank the working group Electronic Publishing at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The guidelines of the document server of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin were used here as a template

  • On the FulDok homepage, choose the link Publish
  • In the following form, enter metadata (e.g. document type, title, author(s), abstract, etc.) for your document and transfer your document in pdf format to the FulDok server
  • The metadata is used to describe your document and to define the search entries for your publication in the document server and in online catalogues
  • The compulsory fields marked in the form are self-explanatory. You will also find a help text for each field
  • The submitted data will be released to the public after an editorial examination and after submission of the signed statement of consent
  • Send the completed and signed statement of consent (pdf, 148 kb) to the address of HLB, Leipziger Straße 123, 36037 Fulda
  • As a student of the HS Fulda you also need the attachment of the statement of consent
  • You will receive an email from us once your publication has been activated
  • Your publication will then be searchable online and can be read globally in full text

The documents are referenced both in FulDok and in FILIP, i.e. they can be found both in the HLB's own holdings records and via national and international library catalogues and search engines.

As a member of the Fulda University of Applied Sciences, you can publish your publications in FulDok yourself if you have created them in .pdf format.
