In 2004, the music manuscripts of the HLSB were catalogued by the RISM (Répertoire International des Sources Musicales).

The collection originally comprised 336 manuscripts and was therefore catalogued in its entirety, including manuscripts from after 1850. In the process, 136 new manuscripts were catalogued. For the most part, the newly catalogued manuscripts are based on the cataloguing of two sets of manuscripts owned and written by Heinrich Henkel.
