How do I find... books and other library items?

FILIP provides you with a comprehensive overview of all library items available physically or online and their location and status (e.g. awarded). Here you can search for specific books etc. by entering a few terms from the title and/or the author's surname in the general search field.
Your search will be more precise if you enter the following fields in the advanced search

  • "Title keyword" - for one or more terms from the title
  • "Full title" - for the complete title (4 words in the exact order)
  • "Author" Enter the surname or full name of the author. (abbreviated first names should be omitted)

Use the search engine.

Once you have received a list of hits, you can narrow down your search, e.g. to physical or online library items and/or the type of publication you are looking for (book, journal, CD, etc.). Information on electronic library items can be found under e-books.

Information on the location of the medium and the shelf mark (indicates the exact shelf) can be found by clicking on the title in the hit list.

You can also find library items without using the search portal. The specialist literature in the open access collection is generally organised thematically on the shelves, i.e. books on the same or similar specialist fields are located in close proximity to each other.

All library items that are not available on site can be ordered via interlibrary loansubject to a fee. Click on the "Interlibrary loan" link below the hit list in FILIP to search and order.
