The HLSB acts as a depository library for the Association for Natural History in Eastern Hesse e.V. (VNO), i.e. the association has handed over its stock to the HLSB for storage and utilisation.

The exchange partners include over 100 associations and institutions in Germany and Europe with their monographs and journals on the topics of nature, the environment, geology and biology. In return, they receive the "Beiträge zur Naturkunde in Osthessen" as an exchange gift.

The collection is located at the campus location and is available to all library users under the usual conditions. The volumes are kept in the closed stacks and are therefore not freely accessible, but can usually be ordered directly from the catalogue.
