Citavi is a reference management software that helps with the collection and administration of literature data as well as the creation of citations and bibliographies.You will need a licence to work with Citavi. As the HLSB has acquired a campus licence, all members of Fulda University of Applied Sciences (employees and students) can use the software free of charge.University members receive the licence authorisation when they create a Citavi account with their university email address. Users who are not members of HS Fulda can purchase a licence as a private individual.Students and employees of Fulda University of Applied Sciences can use worksheets on the HELP e-learning platform (in german) to gain an initial insight into the basic functions and their application.The library offers regular training sessions. In our training course, you will learn about the basic functions and data import and how to create links with your word processing files to create standardised citations and bibliographies.

When working with Citavi for Windows, you can decide for each project whether you want to save it locally on your computer or in the Citavi Cloud. When saving in the cloud, you can collaborate with others in your team.
All you need for active participation with Citavi Web is an up-to-date browser. Project data is always saved online in the Citavi Cloud. With Citavi Web, you can collaborate with others in your team regardless of which operating system is being used.
Both versions can be tested free of charge for 30 days.
After the trial period, a licence is required for active participation in Citavi.

First download the latest version of Citavi: www.citavi.com/de/download
Installation
After downloading, start the installation by double-clicking on Citavi6Setup.exe. The Word Add-In and the additional programmes Citavi Picker (for Internet browsers and Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader) will be installed automatically. Using the licence
Citavi obtains the licence information from your Citavi account, which you must create with your university email address. With the licence, employees and students can use Citavi for Windows free of charge.
Citavi Web does not need to be installed on your computer. The program is operating system-independent. All you need is an internet connection and a current browser.
