Successful Free Comic Book Day 2026

On Saturday, 9 May 2026, the Heinrich-von-Bibra-Platz location of the HLSB Fulda once again became a meeting place for comic enthusiasts of all ages. A total of 388 users took advantage of the wide range of offers at the free Comic Book Day and created a lively atmosphere in the library.

In the Children and Young Adults Department, visitors were able to choose three comics of their choice from a large selection free of charge. The creative costumes worn by many guests were also particularly popular, as those who dressed up received an additional comic for free.

A special highlight was the visit by comic artist and author Andreas Eikenroth. In his presentation "From booklet to high culture - the amazing journey of the comic", he gave exciting insights into the development and significance of the comic medium. In the subsequent workshop "Anyone can draw a comic!", numerous comic ideas and drawings were created under expert guidance.

The day of action took place together with over 1,200 libraries, bookshops and comic stores in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Luxembourg. The regional press also reported on the successful course, including Osthessen News and Osthessen-Zeitung.

Another highlight for manga and comic fans has already been confirmed: HLSB Fulda will also be taking part in Manga Day 2026 in September. Further information on the program and activities will be announced in the coming months.
