The Pickers

As part of the exhibition "Who does the work in this country", we will be showing the film "The Pickers" at Café Chaos (Leipziger Straße 123, Building 46, Room 006) on Tuesday, 12 May at 6:00 pm.

Fresh fruit and vegetables are available all year round in Europe, but this convenience comes at a high human cost. While the ecological consequences are often discussed, the fate of around one million harvest workers - mostly migrants without legal protection - often remains invisible. This documentary gives a voice to the people working in the fields of Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Germany. It shows how systematic exploitation and precarious working conditions without contracts or insurance secure our standard of living. In addition to the bitter reality, the film also highlights glimmers of hope: it documents the political struggle for a Europe-wide supply chain law and presents fair cooperatives that prove that humane conditions in agriculture are possible.

Afterwards, there will be time to exchange views on the film and the topic of fair trade.

The film will be shown in its original version with subtitles!
