• Members and affiliates of Fulda University of Applied Sciences are eligible to apply, provided they act as the ‘submitting author’ or ‘corresponding author’.
• Funding is supported for articles published in pure gold open-access Journals.
• The maximum grant amount is €2,000 gross per article (including 19% VAT).
• The journal must use a recognised quality assurance procedure (usually peer review). It must be listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ).
• Authors and editors grant the publisher only non-exclusive rights of use, but not exclusive rights of use.
• The article must be published under an open licence, preferably CC BY 4.0.
• The article must acknowledge the support provided by the fund:
  German: “This publication was financially supported by the Open Access Publishing Fund of Fulda University of Applied Sciences.”
  English: “We acknowledge support from the Open Access Publishing Fund of Fulda University of Applied Sciences.”

Applications may be submitted as soon as the publication has been accepted for publication. If an invoice is already available at the time of application, it may be submitted directly with the application (a copy of the invoice as a PDF). Please ensure the following:

• Fulda University of Applied Sciences (department/facility) is the invoice recipient and the invoice shows net amounts.
• In particular, for suppliers within the EU, you have provided the VAT number of Fulda University of Applied Sciences (DE 166496730).

If you have already clarified the eligibility of your publication with the Open Access Officer, you are welcome to specify the HLBSF (Fulda University Library) directly as the invoice recipient:

The funding approval is valid for one calendar year. If publication does not take place within this timeframe, a new application for funding must be submitted.

The HLSB Fulda publishes additional funded open-access publications with a free licence on FulDok, along with the corresponding publication record in the university bibliography.

To ensure transparency regarding price trends in open-access publishing subject to a fee, the HFD’s publication fund participates in the OpenAPC initiative.
