DEAL contracts
More visibility and reach for your publication - at no additional cost to you as an author at Fulda University of Applied Sciences.
Thanks to the transformative DEAL agreements, as an author at Fulda University of Applied Sciences you can publish in thousands of quality-checked journals from the publishers Wiley, SpringerNature and Elsevier as standard Open Access.
Advantages for authors
Publish your paper in open access and maximise the visibility of your research. Your work will have more reach as it can be read and cited worldwide without expensive subscriptions or technical barriers restricting access to your publication.
No additional fees
The DEAL contracts reinvest the former library expenses for journal subscriptions in favour of open access publications. This means that you as an author do not have to pay additional open access fees.

- As a corresponding author with an affiliation to Fulda University of Applied Sciences, you can publish within the framework of DEAL.
- If you submit a publication to a DEAL journal, your affiliation will be checked by the publisher and confirmed by the HLSB. Please ensure that the affiliation information is consistent and complete - both on the publishing platform and in the submitted manuscript. If possible, please provide the following information: Hochschule Fulda - University of Applied Sciences.
- If you are affiliated with several institutions, Fulda University of Applied Sciences (or another DEAL-authorised institution (https://deal-konsortium.de/einrichtungen/teilnehmen)) should be named first if possible. The institution at which the research on which your publication is based took place should be named.
- When communicating with the publisher, use only your institutional e-mail address and, if necessary, only provide your work address.
- If you are submitting your article to an open access journal, you do not need to do anything else. If you are submitting to a subscription journal, you will be asked to select Open Access after your article has been accepted for publication. Then confirm the respective Open Access option of the publisher
- Wiley: „Hybrid Open Access“
- Springer Nature: „Open Choice“
- Elsevier: „Core Hybrid“
If you choose the genuine Open Access option in the context of DEAL, you will be asked to specify an Open Content licence for your publication. It is best to always confirm the preselected standard licence. This is usually the Creative Commons Attribution Licence (CC-BY), because the DEAL project aims to establish CC-BY as the standard licence for OA publications.
- While authors transfer all rights to their work to the publisher in regular closed-access publications, under the CC-BY licence they retain the right to reuse their work and share published articles without restriction. With the CC-BY licence, you avoid legal uncertainties when distributing and reusing your work.
All important information for publishers can also be found on the website of the DEAL consortium and on the corresponding pages of Wiley, Springer Nature and Elsevier. You can find out everything you need to know about CC licences in the Creative CommonsCC FAQ.
