WORKSTATIONS HEINRICH-VON-BIBRA-PLATZ

At the Heinrich-von-Bibra-Platz location, there are various places to study and work. There are desks that are suitable for quiet individual work and places where you can work in a group. It is not possible to reserve workstations.

Please note that the HLSBs library regulations apply at all workstations and that playing loud music or films and making phone calls are not permitted. This also applies to video conferencing. However, talking to each other is not a problem as long as other library users are not disturbed.

The reading room is located on the 1st floor. You can reach it via the staircase immediately to the right of the entrance or via the lift next to the automatic pay station.

The reading room was refurnished at the end of 2024 to meet the needs of the HLSBs various user groups. It is no longer a quiet study room where people are not allowed to talk. However, as everywhere in the library, everyone must be considerate of each other.

You will find here:

  • Individual workstations with power sockets and privacy screens
  • Group workstations for up to four people each
  • Lounge area with comfortable sofas
  • PC for compulsory ebooks with access to regional electronic resources

You will also find

  • Reference works from all fields of knowledge. These are mainly
    • general and specialised reference works
    • Important handbooks and textbooks
    • dictionaries

  • a large selection of academic journals with the issues of the current year (journal reading room)
  • read journals and newspapers available in the reading room/journal reading room

Here you can

  • work quietly, largely undisturbed
  • work with the reference holdings in the reading room
  • consult stocks that are not available on loan and have been ordered from the Closed Stacks or via interlibrary loan
  • read journals and newspapers that are available in the reading room/magazine reading room

A study room is available at the Heinrich-von-Bibra-Platz location on the 1st floor/extension. This room is located above the rooms of the Children and Young Adults Department and can be reached via the lift or the staircase in the extension. It is open especially for pupils and students who want to study there or write a paper or do coursework in a team.

At the Heinrich-von-Bibra-Platz location, you will find three desks (two of which have power connections) for free use in the entrance area, as well as three catalogue tablets and two research PCs.

In the Children and Young Adults Department, there are ten desks for reading, researching, working and doing homework. Here, too, there is a catalogue tablet, a research PC and a PC especially for children, which is equipped with appropriate youth protection filters. The desks and the children's PC are exclusively for children and young people.

In the new reader's cafe set up in 2024 with the support of the city of Fulda, you will find:

  • Tables and seating for reading the newspaper, taking a break or working
  • a coffee machine with hot and cold drinks and small snacks
  • current national and international daily and weekly newspapers
  • magazines
