Costs, Payment and Scholarships

Programme fee
On-site participation: 2,500 euros

The fee includes the standard programme

  • 1 three-week Seminar
  • 1 three-week Language course
  • Extracurricular activities
  • Field trip to Berlin, Kreuzberg and Point Alpha
  • Additional fee of 50 € for daytrips to Würzburg, Weimar and Eisenach; See Programme.
  • Accommodation in Hotel am Rosenbad in Fulda. Breakfast is included.
  • Insurance (covers: illnesses, accidents, and personal liability)

Please note:
We cannot offer any fee reduction or scholarship if you do not want to attend the entire standard programme.

Necessary additional expenses:

  • Domestic and International travel to and from Fulda
  • Meals and beverages
  • Personal spending
  • Laundry services

Possible additional expenses:

  • Luggage insurance. We recommend that you insure your luggage before starting your travels
  • Additional accommodation in Fulda in case you:

    • arrive in Fulda before IWU-Arrival Day
    • stay on after IWU-Departure Day

Please, make sure that you bring enough cash (€) with you on the day of arrival, to cover the additional costs (deposits) and to have some money for food and beverages during the first few days. Many shops do not accept credit cards.

Once you have been selected for participation, you will receive detailed information.

We offer a limited number of scholarships to our participants.

You can apply for a scholarship when applying for the programme itself (with your CV, letter of motivation, letter of reference, ...) by indicating in the online registration form that you would like to apply for a scholarship. When awarding the scholarships, we take into account the applicant's CV, the letter of motivation and the letter of reference. We always evaluate the various scholarship applications and then make a decision on who to award the scholarships to.

The scholarship amounts to 2500 Euro and covers accommodation, health insurance, transport in Fulda, participation in the seminar and German classes as well as the mandatory excursions to Kreuzberg, Point Alpha and Berlin.

If you are a student from the University of Massachusetts system, the University of Wisconsin system, and participating universities in Queensland you will participate as exchange students and will not pay fees directly to IWU Fulda. Please contact your study abroad advisor for more information on how and when to apply.
