The colloquium supports the ongoing theoretical and empirical PhD projects with research topics regarding culture(s), and intercultural or culture-reflexive communication. It offers time to present research steps or to discuss related topics and methods. The choice of topics will be selected by the participants.

In this colloquium, we will discuss the ongoing research of the doctoral students with a focus on social, economic and political processes mainly in the Global South. Based on the individual projects, we will discuss the different stages of the PhD project, including state of the art and preparation of field work, the challenges occurring during empirical research, data analysis and interpretation. We will also talk about how to structure the thesis, how to write up data and how to manage time constraints.

The doctoral colloquium “Gender & Diversity Studies" is aimed at doctoral students and - by personal arrangement - also at those who plan to pursue to do a PhD in the future. In the colloquium, all questions concerning the planning, implementation and completion of the doctoral project are addressed and the theoretical and methodological approaches to the research work are presented and discussed. The doctoral candidates regularly present the progress of their work within the framework of the colloquium and are in a collegial exchange with other doctoral candidates through the colloquium.
